MURALS: Materials-focused Undergraduate Research Applied to the Life Sciences.

A summer research experience for undergrads

We are MURALS UMass REU Program, an NSF funded REU site providing 10-week long intensive research experiences for undergraduates. Our faculty are in Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, and we offer projects at the interface of materials and the applied life sciences.


Application Timeline

Mid-January - Application window opens

Late February / Early March - Application review starts

Applications will continue to be accepted until cohort is filled

Late March - Accepted students will begin to get offers

Late May / Early June - Program starts at UMass!


10 Week Research Program

May 31st - August 5th 2022

Free Housing, Food, and Travel to Amherst, MA. Plus, earn $500 per week to do research at UMass

We will start reading applications March 1st, 2022 and continue until we fill the cohort of 10 students
